KANSAS CITY — Kathleen Lavon Miller, Melvern, died Saturday, May 28, 2022, at KU Medical Center, Kansas City. She was 70.

She was born Oct. 4, 1951, in Ottawa, the daughter of Myron and Wanda (Rice) Miller. She grew up in Melvern and graduated from Melvern Rural High School, and then Kansas State Teachers College (Emporia State).

From 1973 until her retirement in 2011, Kathy worked as a tax specialist for several companies that eventually became Westar Energy. She was a strong, independent woman who loved the country and her horses. She lived southeast of Lyndon for a time, and had been in Melvern for the last 10 years.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Myron and Wanda.

She is survived by her two brothers, Richard Miller (Nancy), Melvern, and Martin Miller (Sara), Columbus, Neb.; her two sisters, Deborah Miller-Steinbock, Topeka, and Tammy Miller, Melvern; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 11, at the Melvern Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lawrence Humane Society and sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Ave., Lyndon, KS 66451.
