TOPEKA — Florence Lenora Lewis died Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at Midland Hospice House, Topeka. She was 94.

She was born April 17, 1928, on the family farm near Westphalia, the daughter of Noah and Florence (Abbott) Borror. She grew up in rural Anderson County and graduated from Westphalia High School in 1946. She had lived most of her life in Quenemo, and had been in Ottawa for the last few years.

Florence married Duane Shaw May 1, 1949. They later divorced. She married Earl Dean Lewis May 28, 1966, in Ottawa.

She worked as a seamstress for the H.D. Lee Company, Ottawa, for 20 years, as a bus driver for the Marais des Cygnes Valley schools, and for ECKAN Head Start. She was a member of the Quenemo United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women, and she delivered for Meals On Wheels.

Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Earl, Feb. 18, 2008; two sons, Darren Lewis, Dec. 19, 1982, and Sanford “Sandy” Shaw, May 7, 2022; her parents, Noah and Florence; and two brothers, Martin and Calvin Borror.

She is survived by two sons, Earl Lewis Jr. (Shari), Topeka, and Leslie Lewis (Rita), Garnett; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be 7 p.m. Friday, June 10, at Feltner Funeral Chapel, Lyndon. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until service time. Private family inurnment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Quenemo, at a later date.

The family requests no flowers or plants. Memorial contributions may be made to the Quenemo United Methodist Church and sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Ave., Lyndon, KS 66451.
