LAWRENCE — Elizabeth Ann Pankratz died Thursday, April 14, 2022, at her home in Lawrence. She was 80.

She was born July 15, 1941, in Texas, the adopted daughter of Frank and Nellie Clark. She grew up in Bartlesville and Boise City, Oklahoma. She later lived in Topeka for several years before moving to a horse ranch south of Overbrook, and later to Lawrence.

Elizabeth graduated from the University of Kansas and worked for the State of Kansas as a topographer. She had also worked as a dispatcher for the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office and was a deputy undersheriff. She was also a dispatcher for the EMT service in Overbrook.

She was united in marriage to John Pankratz March 6, 1993, in Miami, Okla.

Elizabeth was a member of Grace Community Church, Overbrook, and the American Quarter Horse Association.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John (March 25, 2019); a son, Bradly Pankratz (2007); her brother, Hal Clark (2020); and her parents, Frank and Nellie.

Elizabeth is survived by her children, Colette Jones (Mark), Manhattan, and Mitchel Pankratz, Ottawa; four grandchildren, Faith Hartley, Gardner, Samuel Jones, Lincoln, Neb., Scott Pankratz, Gardner, and Adam Pankratz, San Diego; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, at Feltner Funeral Chapel, Lyndon. Family will receive friends 11:30 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow at the Valley Brook Cemetery, south of Overbrook.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Quarter Horse Association Foundation or the Lawrence Humane Society, and sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Ave., Lyndon, KS 66451.
