LEBO — Gladean Mayone (Griffin) Burd died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2022, at her home in Lebo. She was 92.

She was born Sept. 23, 1929, in Strawn, the daughter of Veasy Ray and Gladys Eliza (Allen) Griffin. She graduated high school in Strawn.

Gladean was joined in marriage to Bobby Dean Burd June 23, 1948, in Emporia. To this union three children were born, Linda, Loy and Roger.

Gladean was a homemaker, and also worked as a bookkeeper for Thompson Trucking and her husband’s business. She and Bob owned and operated the Gamble’s store in Osage City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Loy Simon; a grandson, Jesse Burd; and three brothers, Donald Allen, Norman Ray and Otto Kay Griffin.

Gladean will be forever remembered by her daughter, Linda Dayhoff (Bob), Osage City; her son, Roger Burd, Kansas City, Mo.; a sister, Elaine Smith (Dale), Bozeman, Mont.; a son-in-law, Mike Simon, Henderson, Nev.; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be noon Monday, Feb. 7, at Lincoln Cemetery, Lebo, weather permitting. The family will receive friends 10 to 11:30 a.m., prior to the service, at Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home, Lebo.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Osage City Golf Course and sent in care of Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home, P.O. Box 43, Lebo, KS 66856.
