TOPEKA — Susan Jane McDonald, 64, Vassar, died Friday, Dec. 31, 2021, in Topeka.

She was born Sept. 1, 1957, in Independence, the daughter of Jack Stratton and Catherine Bullock.

Susan grew up in Independence and had lived near Vassar with her husband for the last 22 years.

She was a registered nurse, having worked for the Osage County Health Department. She had also previously worked as a traveling nurse in several states.

Susan supported Autumn Acres Animal Rescue and had been involved in Lions Club International. She had also been a District Governor in the Lions Club.

She is survived by her husband, William McDonald, of the home; two daughters, Brandy Williams and Gabrielle Shatto and her husband; a son, Josh Helderman; three stepchildren, Tim Johnson, Mac McDonald and Bill McDonald Jr.; her father and stepmother, Jack and Kay Stratton; her stepbrother, Donnie Stratton; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, at Feltner Funeral Chapel, Lyndon. The family will receive friends at noon, prior to the service. A luncheon will follow at the Lyndon Community Center.

Memorial contributions be made to the Lions Club of Lyndon or the United Stroke Alliance, and sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Ave., Lyndon, KS 66451.
