OSAGE CITY – Alice Georgie Davis, Osage City, died peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2022, at her home. She was 97.
Alice Georgie McCullough was born Sept. 23, 1924, in Portsmouth, Va., to James H. and Cora (Overman) McCullough. Shortly after, they moved to Norfolk, Va., where she went to school and graduated. After graduation, she worked at Chesapeake Potomac Telephone Company.
She was joined in marriage to Acie W. Davis Sr. in June 1945. They moved to Osage City in 1948. He died in 1975.
Alice was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church. She was a member of gad abouts, American Legion Auxiliary, and UMW. She worked for Hallmark Cards for 13 years in Osage City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a sister, Mildred Stoudenmier.
Alice is survived by five sons, Acie W. Davis Jr. (Sarah), Jim Davis (Shelley), John Davis, Don Davis (Jan), and Jeffrery Davis (Sheri); five grandchildren, Justin Davis Sr., Brandon Davis (Susan), Chrissy Bayliss (Ryan), Quentin Davis (Tracee), and Leslie Davis; 12 great-grandchildren, Courtney Hultgren (Tyler), Justin Davis Jr., Jessica Thompson (Jacob), River Davis, Sara Davis, Cole House (Mariah), Noah Bayless, Meah Bayless, Luke Davis, Jack Davis, Britton Hamman and Savannah Hamman; four great-great-grandchildren, Izabell House, Logan and Olivia Hultgren, and Willow Thompson; a sister, Jeannette Wall; numerous nieces and nephews; and extended family, including Lorraine Renner and Dodie Nech, who stayed close to Alice and family.
A funeral service was 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 17, at United Methodist Church, Osage City. Burial followed at the Osage City Cemetery.
