OVERBROOK — Frances Jean Granger, 97, died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2021, at Brookside Retirement Community, Overbrook.

She was born May 15, 1924, in Saffordville, the daughter of Charles and Jennie (Jones) Crook.

Jean, as she was known to all, grew up in the Saffordville and Toledo communities in Lyon and Chase counties, graduating from Toledo Township High School in 1942. She also lived in Burlingame for many years.

She was a homemaker and had sold Avon for over 20 years. She was a member of the Burlingame Federated Church, volunteered for Meals On Wheels, was a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader, and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Carbondale.

Jean was united in marriage to Alvin “Bob” Granger Oct. 15, 1949, in Bentonville, Ark. To this union, three children were born, Bill, Jan and Barb.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Jennie; her husband, Bob, June 25, 1999; her two brothers, William and Herbert Crook; and her sister, Elizabeth Crook.

Jean is survived by her three children, Bill Granger (Sarah), Topeka, Jan Scheid (Keith), Vassar, and Barb Bryson (Greg), Scranton; her five grandchildren, Elizabeth Scheid, Gerri Scheid (Trinity Fowler), Erin Gibson, John Granger (Sara Stites), and Rosalie Granger; and her seven great-grandchildren, Brelain and Aidan Finan, Carter, Chloe and Emmy Gibson, and Ira and Ezra Granger.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20, at Feltner Funeral Chapel, Lyndon. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, at the Burlingame Federated Church, with burial following at the Burlingame Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Burlingame Federated Church and sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Ave., Lyndon, KS 66451.
