OSAGE CITY — Janice Arlene White, Osage City, died Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at Osage Nursing Center. She was 74. She was lovingly surrounded by family and friends in the days prior to her passing.

She was born Feb. 21, 1947, in Emporia, the daughter and youngest of three to Francis Krueger and Mary (Atchison) Krueger Bartee. She graduated from Emporia High School in 1966, and attended Emporia State University. She was a devoted follower of the Catholic faith and was a lifelong member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Osage City, where she used her singing ability in the church choir and for Mass cantering. She was also a member of the Altar Society.

Janice ran a successful daycare from her home in Osage City for many years. She later worked in downtown Osage City at Ben Franklin and Duckwalls/Alco in retail service, and for several years as a security guard for Wackenhut Security and Target Distribution Center before her retirement.

She married William F. White Jr. Oct. 21, 1967. They were married 50 years before he preceded her in death Jan. 20, 2018. Together, they enjoyed dancing, bowling, visiting with friends, and enjoying their family, especially their grandson.

Janice was also preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Loyd Bartee; and her sister, Sharon A. Hanson; as well as many beloved cousins.

She is survived by her three sons, Arthur L. White (Megan), San Luis Obispo, Calif.; Troy D. White, Loveland, Colo.; and Daniel L. White, Topeka; her grandson, Samuel R. White, San Luis Obispo, Calif.; her brother and sister-in-law, Warren and Victoria Krueger, Firestone, Colo.; her sisters-in-law, Carol Bolyard, Osage City, and Pat Edge, Independence, Mo.; many beloved nieces and nephews; and her dear friends and caretakers at Osage Nursing Center.

A celebration of life Mass will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 30, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Osage City, with a graveside service and luncheon to follow. The family requests attendees who aren’t vaccinated for COVID-19 to wear a mask. Janice was cremated; Angels Above Cremation Services, Topeka, handled the responsibility. She will be buried at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Osage City.

Memorial contributions may be made to Arthur White (to go into a college fund for Janice’s only grandchild) and sent to Arthur White, 305 Santa Lucia Dr., San Luis Obispo, CA 93405.
