TOPEKA — Norma L. Rice, 94, Topeka, died Friday, July 16, 2021, at Lexington Park Assisted Living, Topeka.

She was born Nov. 3, 1926, in Burlingame, the daughter of David and Reva (Rogers) Love. She grew up in Burlingame and graduated from Burlingame High School with the Class of 1944.

Norma was united in marriage to Dean Rice Oct. 9, 1959, in Fairhope, Ala. They lived in Utah for 25 years before returning to Burlingame. After Dean’s death in 1994, Norma moved to Topeka.

She worked her entire professional career in the United States Transportation Department, retiring from Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, Utah. After retirement, she loved to travel. She took many trips to Mississippi and Wyoming to visit family. She loved music and learning, and she excelled in needlepoint, creating dozens of pieces. Over the years, both Dean and Norma were active members in the Corinthian Chapter #181 Order of the Eastern Star of Burlingame.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dean Rice; and her siblings, Wayne Love, Roger Love, Glenn Love and Marge (Love) Dial.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews, who will dearly miss her witty sense of humor.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 20, at the Burlingame Federated Church, with interment following at the Burlingame Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Norma Rice Memorial Fund and sent in care of Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O. Box 194, Burlingame, KS 66413.
