OSAGE CITY — Wayne O. Jones, 100, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at Vintage Park Assisted Living in Osage City.

Wayne was born Feb. 3, 1921, in Arvonia, the son of William Oliver and Nellie Mae (Bourne) Jones. He graduated from Osage City High School in 1939.

He was joined in marriage to Frankie Marie Jones June 14, 1946, in Osage City. They owned and operated Jones Dairy from 1946 until he sold the building in 1984. He delivered for Fairmont Foods until his retirement in 1990.

Wayne was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, where he was a church elder. He was also past president of the Fair Association, on the city council for two terms in the 1950s, served on the Senior Citizens Center Board, volunteered for Meals on Wheels, was treasurer for Rapp School House and Kiwanis.

He will be forever remembered by his sister, Anna Mae (Dick) Kuntz, Burlingame; nieces and nephews, Owen (Pati) Jones, Francie (Joe) Archdekin, and Rex (Cyndi) Jones, all of St. Joseph, Missouri, Penny (Jim) Glover, Ozark, Missouri, Cecil (Melinda) Jones, Dallas, Rita (Lance) Hodges, Topeka, Geri (Mike) Caraway, Goddard; 17 great-nieces and great-nephews; 21 great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; and one great-great-great-niece.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a brother, William “Bill” Owen Jones.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 20, at the First Presbyterian Church in Osage City. The church will provide limited seating, and masks and social distancing will be required. The family will be seated first before service. Friends may pay respect from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, March 19, at VanArsdale Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Osage City First Presbyterian Church and sent in care of VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, 107 N. 6th St., Osage City, KS 66523. Condolences may be expressed at Vanarsdalefs.com. Service will be streamed live on VanArsdale Funeral Services Inc.
