OSAGE CITY — Earlene K. Bockus, Osage City, died Thursday, Jan. 5, 2023 at Osage Nursing Center, Osage City. She was 84.

She was born Nov. 19, 1938, in Topeka, to Earl A. and Lorene (Martin) Griffin. She graduated from Osage City High School with the Class of 1956, and from Clark School of Business in the spring of 1957.

Earlene married Raymond E. Bockus Sept. 29, 1957, at the Frist Presbyterian Church, Osage City. To this union, three children were born, Raylene, Brian and Brad.

She worked for many years as an executive secretary for the State Federation of Labor, Topeka. In 1977, she began working at Benner Williams, and she and Ray later started Bockus Real Estate, where she continued working until retirement. She dearly loved her family, her work, her pets, singing, reading and playing board games, especially Trivial Pursuit.

Earlene was preceded in death by her husband, Ray, her parents, and a brother, Jim Griffin.

She is survived by her children, Raylene Loschke (Frank), Brian Bockus (Denise) and Brad Bockus (Colleen); her siblings, Jane Guion (John) and Loren Griffin (Vinnie); a sister in-law, Judy Griffin; two brothers in-law, Richard Bockus (Peggy) and Harvey Kimes (Linda); eight grandchildren, Jay Loschke (Kayla), Kyle Loschke (Ashlynn), Laura Loschke, Megan Kellner (Jason), Kaci Shore (Shane), Ellie Bockus, Danielle Hoggatt (Colten) and Brandon Bockus; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, at the First Presbyterian Church, Osage City. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time, at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or Interim Home Care and Hospice, and sent in care of VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, 107 N. 6th St., Osage City, KS 66523.
