TOPEKA — Charles Elmer “Tug” Atchison Jr., Burlingame, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, at Midland Hospice, Topeka. He was 70.

He was born May 12, 1952, in Osage City, the son of Charles Elmer Atchison Sr. and Geraldine “Geri” (Mundy) Atchison. He lived his entire life in Burlingame.

Tug married Darlene Atchison March 2, 1985, at Grace Assembly Church, Burlingame.

He was a skilled craftsman, stone mason, roofing professional and general contractor. He was a member of the Roofers Union Local #20 and Bricklayers, Masons and Plasterers International Union of America, Local #3.

Tug enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, coaching baseball, mushroom hunting, picking up and selling worms, and tinkering in the garage.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, C.R. Atchison; two brothers, Timothy Atchison and Jeffrey Atchison; and a sister, Marilyn Roberts.

Tug is survived by his wife, Darlene; three sons, Ryan Vaughn (Diane), Michael Atchison (Franzi), and Patrick Atchison; a brother, Dean Atchison; a sister, Sherry Roberts (Bill); a niece, Jessica Ramirez (Josue); and his pet companion, Chloe June.

A celebration of life service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, at the Burlingame Corinthian Lodge, 106 East Fremont, Burlingame.

Memorial contributions may be made to Darlene Atchison (to offset the unexpected medical costs associated with Tug’s passing) and sent to 113 E. Fremont, Burlingame, KS 66413.
