EUDORA — Janet Marie Riggin, Eudora, died Sunday, May 15, 2022, at her home. She was 46.

She was born Feb. 8, 1976, in Emporia, the daughter of Jode M. and Rosene L. (Stewart) Riggin. She grew up in the Harveyville area and graduated from Mission Valley High School with the Class of 1994. She then graduated from Flint Hills Technical College, Emporia, with a degree in Graphic Arts.

Janet was a manager at Universal Engraving, Lenexa, working there since 2004. She loved her job and how she was able to utilize her artistic abilities within her profession.

She was a member of the Barn Hunting Association and loved taking her dog, Blue, on barn hunts, and often winning awards. She also had served as a volunteer firefighter and first responder for Baldwin City.

Janet was an incredible artist, and it came out in everything she created. She made cakes and cupcakes for many of the neighborhood children, and of course her relatives for many years. She loved to make baby clothes, and sold several of her pieces over the years. She loved to woodwork and sew. Janet had an adventurous side as well, and her kayaking trips helped to quench her adventurous side of life. She took many kayaking trips, and loved her friends that she would go with.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jode Riggin.

Janet is survived by her son, Devin Lewis, Lawrence; her mother, Rosene Riggin, Burlingame; her sister, Bonnie Buss, Pawhuska, Okla.; her brother, Warren Riggin, Burlingame; and two nephews, Wesley Behner and Joshua Harvey.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 27, at the Federated Church, Burlingame. Interment will follow in the Wilmington Cemetery, Harveyville. The family will greet friends at a visitation 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 26, at the Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, Burlingame.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Douglas County Humane Society and sent in care of Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O. Box 194, Burlingame, KS 66413.
