WILLIAMSBURG — Sanford “Sandy” Shaw died Saturday, May 7, 2022, at his home, near Williamsburg. He was 70.

He was born Feb. 5, 1952, in Garnett, the son of Duane “Slim” Shaw and Florence Borror. He graduated from Quenemo High School in 1970.

Sandy lived in rural Quenemo for many years before moving to rural Williamsburg in 2014.

He married the love of his life, Retha Fine, Sept. 30, 1972, in Quenemo. To this union a daughter was born, Valerie Dawn Shaw.

Sandy was a maintenance technician at the AGC Glass Factory, Spring Hill, retiring after 25 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Retha (Dec. 16, 2020); his father, Duane; his brother, Darren Lewis (1982); and his sister, Katherine Gumm (2018).

Sandy is survived by his daughter, Valerie Shaw-Gavel (Troy), Ottawa; his mother, Florence Lewis, Ottawa; his two brothers, Brian Shaw, Bella Vista, Ark., and Earl Lewis Jr., Topeka; four grandchildren, Jordan (Ali), Tucker (Jenisa), Coleman (Ashli), and Colt (Jacke); and two great-grandchildren, Mora and Karter.

Memorial services will be 7 p.m. Friday, May 13, at Feltner Funeral Chapel, Lyndon. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until service time.

Memorial contributions may be made to Prairie Paws Animal Shelter and sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Ave., Lyndon, KS 66451.
