OVERBROOK — Mildred Grace Walker, Burlingame, died Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Brookside Retirement Community, Overbrook. She was 93.

She was born July 19, 1928, in Iuka, the daughter of Clinton and Clara (Brown) Mott. She graduated from Mullinville High School with the Class of 1947.

Mildred was united in marriage to Joseph W. Walker Jr. May 26, 1953, in Pratt. They shared 52 years of loving marriage before Joseph’s death in March 2006.

She was a lifelong homemaker and housewife, and a caring and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She took great pride in her family, and especially loved playing board games with the grandchildren later in life. She was an active Girl Scout leader in her youth and enjoyed helping the young girls. Most important to Mildred was that her family knew through her actions that she loved them all unconditionally.

Mildred was a member of the Osage City Church of Christ. She volunteered for the Census Bureau when she was able, and she helped with the local newspaper delivery routes occasionally. She was very involved in making arts and crafts, and was especially fond of needlepoint and embroidery.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Walker Jr.; her parents, Clinton and Clara Mott; and four siblings, Dale Mott, Gene Mott, Eleanor MacClaren and Dorothy Martin.

Mildred is survived by her son, Rance Walker (Mickie Sue), Burlingame; her daughter, Kylin Griffin (Tim), Burlingame; four grandchildren, Adrian Walker, Topeka, Amanda Shewey, Atchison, Ian Griffin, Burlingame, and Reanna Crumpton, Baldwin City; and seven great-grandchildren, Harper, Timothy, Deacon, Gracelynn, Memphis, Walker and Holden.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, April 14, at Osage City Church of Christ, Osage City. Interment will follow in Burlingame Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, at Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, Burlingame.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Osage City Church of Christ and sent in care of Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O. Box 194, Burlingame, KS 66413.

Condolences may be left at Lamb-Roberts.com.
