TOPEKA — Mary Ann Parsons, Topeka, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2022, at her home. She was 93.

She was born April 30, 1928, in Clifton, the daughter of Stewart Hurst and Hazel Sybil (Arnold) Brubaker. She grew up in Burlingame and graduated from Burlingame High School.

Mary Ann was united in marriage to Merrill W. Parsons Dec. 26, 1949, in Topeka. They shared over 49 years of marriage before Merrill’s death, Aug. 12, 1999.

She worked for the Santa Fe Railroad, Topeka, as a clerk, retiring in December 1987. She was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church, Topeka, and in her early years, the Federated Church, Burlingame. She was a 50-plus-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, 181 Corinthian Chapter in Burlingame, as well as Santa Fe Old Timers, Active Prime Timers, and Santa Fe Singers, all in Topeka.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Merrill; a brother, Jack Brubaker; and a sister-in-law, Pattie Brubaker.

She is survived by her nieces, Jill Finden, Camdenton, Mo., and Pamela McConnaughey, Meriden; her nephews, Joel Brubaker, Colorado, David Wayne Parsons, Burlingame, and Andrew Hales, Berryton; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

The Parsons family wants to express how grateful they are to the friends and caregivers who provided friendship and support to Mary Ann. God bless and thank you to all.

Graveside services and interment will be 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, at the Burlingame Cemetery, Ramskill Chapel. The family will receive friends 9 to 11 a.m., prior to the funeral services, at the Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, 503 S. Topeka Ave., Burlingame.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Second Presbyterian Church in Topeka or the Federated Church in Burlingame, and sent in care of the Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O. Box 194, Burlingame, KS 66413.
