TOPEKA — Katherine Fay McGuire, Osage City, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2022, at Stormont-Vail, Topeka. She was 70.

She was born March 24, 1951, in Osage County, the daughter of Arlie and Dorothy (Masters) Hallowell. She was a lifelong Osage County resident, graduating from Burlingame High School.

Katherine worked for many years at IBP as a processor. After retiring from her job, and the death of her stepfather, Robert Anderson, she became her mother’s constant companion.

Katherine was a highly opinionated, never afraid to tell you how it is, lady. She had no fear of hurting your feelings and holding you accountable for your mistakes, but she would also be there for anyone in a heartbeat to help them, regardless of why they needed help. She was very set in her ways but had a very funny side to her. Her sense of humor was dry, but always made you laugh.

She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather, and a nephew, C.R. Atchison.

Katherine is survived by two sons, Timmy Hill and his wife, Mary, Harveyville, and Michael McGuire and his wife, Lisa, Osage City; three sisters, Linda Meyer, Topeka, Connie Sue Hallowell, Osage City, and Patty Kruzel, Topeka; two grandchildren, Zackery Romine and his wife, Felicia, Burlingame, and Lafayette McGuire, Burlington; and two great-grandchildren, Hazley and Addlyn.

A visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, at Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, Burlingame. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 21, at the Federated Church, Burlingame.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Katherine McGuire Memorial Fund and sent in care of Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O. Box 194, Burlingame, KS 66413.

Condolences may be left at Lamb-Roberts.com.
