EMPORIA — Veronica Lee (Miller) Johnson, Osage City, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022, at Newman Regional Health, Emporia. She was 61.

She was born May 6, 1960, in Neubruecke, Germany, the daughter of Quincy Melvon and Margaret Sue (Hamner) Miller. She graduated from Mission Valley High School, and then received a degree in horticulture from Kaw Area Vocational Technical School, Topeka. She was a school cook at Osage City USD 420 for the last 11 years.

Veronica was joined in marriage to Miles Hayden Johnson May 19, 1979, in Topeka. To this union, three sons were born, Lyle, Spencer and Kingham.

She was preceded in death by a baby sister.

Veronica will be forever remembered by her husband, Miles Johnson, of the home; her parents, Quincy and Margaret Miller, Osage City; three sons, Lyle E. Johnson, Meriden, Spencer M. Johnson (Amanda), Osage City, and Kingham Johnson (Kayci), Manhattan; three sisters, Jolene Clark (Wayne), Kansas City, Mo., Vietta Eubanks (Rick), Emporia, and Alois Whalen (Justin), Osage City; a brother, Robert Miller (Rita), Topeka; and grandchildren, Kiara, Gavin, Jace, Lydia, Sidney, and one on the way.

Cremation has taken place, and a graveside memorial service will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to Maude Carpenter’s Children’s Home in Wichita, Paragould Children’s Homes in Paragould, Ark., or In Search of the Lord’s Way in Edmond, Okla., and sent in care of VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, 107 N. Sixth St., Osage City, KS 66523.
