CARBONDALE — Roy David Moore, 70, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2021, at his home in Carbondale.

He was born Dec. 27, 1950, in Topeka, the son of Kenneth and Faye (Coffman) Moore. His adoptive parents were Frank and June Branson.

Roy had lived most of his life in the Carbondale community. He worked as an automotive mechanic for many years. He served on the Carbondale Fire Department for 53 years, the Fire Department board for 32 years, and was fire chief for 24 years. He was also a member of the First Santa Fe Trail Plainsmen Muzzle Loading Gun Club for 21 years.

He was united in marriage to Susan Asbury June 18, 1983, in Carbondale. To this union, two wonderful daughters were born, Elizabeth and Sondra.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Faye; his adopted parents, Frank and June; and a brother, Jack Branson.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Susan; two daughters, Elizabeth Haase (Nick), Wichita, and Sondra Moore, Carbondale; two brothers, Jim Branson (Patti) and Dick Branson (Darlene), both of Carbondale; and four grandchildren, Felicity, Beckett, Scarlett and Elody Haase, all of Wichita.

Visitation will be 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27, at Feltner Funeral Chapel, Lyndon. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, at the Carbondale Cemetery. Those attending the services are asked to wear jeans and flannel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Carbondale Fire Department or the First Santa Fe Trail Plainsmen Muzzle Loading Gun Club, and sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Ave., Lyndon, KS 66451.
