OSAGE CITY — Bessie Grace Dobler died Sunday, Oct. 17, 2021, in Osage City, surrounded by family. She was 93.

She was born Aug. 10, 1928, in Osage City, to Claude and Bessie Neilson. She graduated from Williamsburg High School and attended the Kansas City Art Institute.

Grace married Lloyd Dobler April 1, 1952, in Prescott, Ariz., and lived there for many years before moving back to Kansas. They were married for 63 years before Lloyd died in 2015.

She was an artist and writer all her life, and graduated from Emporia State University with a degree in fine arts when she was in her 50s.

Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; her parents; and her brother, Bill Neilson.

She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Rodee (Mike), Wichita; her son, Neil Dobler (Beth), Topeka; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Claudine MacArthur, Willamsburg, and Donna Foltz, Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, at the First Presbyterian Church, Osage City. Internment will be at the Osage City Cemetery.
