OVERBROOK — Ursula Friedel Toni Landis, 87, Carbondale, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2021, at Brookside Retirement Community, Overbrook.
She was born July 5, 1934, in Stettin, Germany, the daughter of Fritz and Friedel (Mesow) Krueger. She grew up in Germany. In 1958, she came to the United States, and she became a naturalized citizen March 23, 2004. She had lived near Carbondale for over 50 years.
Ursula worked as a cleaning lady for several people through the years. She was a member of the Grace Chapel, Carbondale, where she was a part of Bible Study and was always there to help with any function in the church.
She was united in marriage to William Tell Landis Jr. Feb. 17, 1961, in St. Marys. They later divorced.
Ursula was preceded in death by her son, William Tell Landis IV; her parents, Fritz and Friedel; and her sister, Christel (Krueger) Boozer.
She is survived by her three children, Ruby Arlene Langley, Richard Neal Landis and Betty Diane Gulliver; four grandsons; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, at Grace Chapel, Carbondale, followed by burial at Shawnee Center Cemetery, near Wakarusa.
