TOPEKA — Shirley Martin, 82, Osage City, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2021, at Midland Hospice House, Topeka, from complications of COVID-19.

She was born Dec. 21, 1938, on the family farm in Leonardville, the daughter of Louis and Eleanor (Berg) Bergeson. She graduated from Leonardville Rural High School in 1956, and soon found her way to Osage City.

Shirley married William Martin in February 1957, and they later divorced.

She had an art for sewing and making crafts. She sewed many items for her family, and enjoyed doing sewing and alterations for the community.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Cindy Lou Moulin in 2020; her brother, Eldon Bergeson; her sister, Louella Dugan; and a niece, Sheryl Bergeson.

She is survived by her son, Rick Martin (Michelle), Osage City; her daughters, Cathy Richardson (Hal), Topeka, and Candy Williamson (Scott), Leavenworth; her son-in-law, Gary Moulin, Osage City; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Inurnment will be at Osage City Cemetery at a later date.
