TOPEKA — Kathryn “Kathy” Sue Allen, 71, Vassar, died Monday, Sept. 6, 2021, at St. Francis Hospital, Topeka.

She was born Oct. 4, 1949, in Bessemer, Ala., the daughter of Charles and Viola (Harner) Doritty.

Kathy lived in Colorado from 1979 to 1990, when she moved to Osage County. She lived near Vassar for the last several years.

She was a legal secretary for many years, and was the owner and operator of Lyndon Floral for 10 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Vassar, and the Red Hat Society, and was a lover of anything with four legs or wings.

Kathy was married to William “Bill” Allen June 19, 1992, in Lyndon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Viola; and her two sisters, Carol and Dot.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Bill, of 29 years; her four children, Norm Parker, Topeka, Andrea Schattak, Melvern, Curt Allen, Melvern, and Cristie Frye, Olivet; her three brothers, Richard Dorrity, Sunbury, Ohio, Bob Doritty, Albion, Pa., and Jim Doritty, of the Carolinas; her sister, Margaret Pierce, Erie, Pa.; her best friend, Molly McAdoo, and her three daughters, Christina Eby, Erica DeScipio and Susan Zuschlag; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, at Feltner Funeral Chapel, Lyndon. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at noon.

Memorial contributions may be made to Helping Hands Humane Society or the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation and sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Ave., Lyndon, KS 66451.
