MELVERN — Larry Ray Yockey, 74, Melvern, died Friday, Sept. 10, 2021, at Olathe Medical Center, Olathe.

He was born Aug. 21, 1947, in Topeka, the son of Charles and Frances (Groff) Yockey.

Larry grew up in Cambridge, and moved to the Melvern area when he was a junior in high school. He graduated from Melvern High School in 1965.

He worked for Santa Fe Railroad as a motor car operator, and then worked as a maintenance supervisor for I.B.P., Ohse Meats, LaSiesta and Tyson Foods. He served as treasurer for eight years on the Agency Township, was very active with his kids in 4-H, and was a member of the True Grace Community Church, Melvern.

Larry was united in marriage to Nancy Patterson May 13, 1967, in Melvern. To this union, four children were born.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Frances.

Larry is survived by his wife, Nancy, of 54 years; his children, Brian Yockey (Corinne), Lyndon, Julie Stutzman (George), Lyndon, Jennifer Bingham (Shannon), Osage City, and Kimberly DeCavele (Brian), Melvern; his brother, Garry Yockey (Rose Mary), Moore, Okla.; his 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, at Feltner Funeral Chapel, Lyndon. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery, east of Melvern.

Memorial contributions may be made to True Grace Community Church, and sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Ave., Lyndon, KS 66451.
