OVERBROOK — Elizabeth “Betty” Cooper died Friday, Aug. 27, 2021, at Brookside Retirement Community, Overbrook. She was 96.

Elizabeth “Betty” L. Rowe Fedrizzi Cooper was born June 2, 1925, in Scranton, to William W. Rowe and Melissa M. Jolly. She graduated from Scranton High School in 1943. She then attended nursing school at Christ Hospital (currently known as Stormont Vail), graduating in August 1946, and received her Colorado nursing license in 1947. She took a position as a public health nurse on the Ute Native American Reservation in Durango, Colo., where she provided health services to multiple Native American populations throughout the San Juan Basin area for over 32 years. She received numerous commendations for her work.

She was married to and widowed by Alcide Fedrizzi and Charles Cooper.

Betty retired as a nurse in 1982. She spent her retirement years volunteering with Hospice and being a family caregiver. She was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church, attending in Durango, Colo., and Scranton.

The last decade of her life she lived at Brookside Retirement Community, Overbrook.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, and her brother, William R. Rowe.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Darla Rowe; her nephews, William A. Rowe (Laura) and Marc S. Rowe (Pam); her uncle, Jim Jolly (Martha); and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 2, at Scranton Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Brookside Retirement Community Activities Department and sent in care of Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, 730 Western Heights Dr., Overbrook, KS 66524.
