TOPEKA — Alan Dean Burkdoll, 60, Topeka, formerly of Melvern, died Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at Saint Francis Hospital, Topeka.

He was born July 1, 1961, in Topeka, the son of Dean Lee and Patricia Ann (Rose) Burkdoll. He grew up in the Melvern and Lyndon areas, graduating from Marais des Cygnes Valley High School in 1979. He has lived in Topeka since 1996.

Alan was united in marriage to Dana L. Markley Sept. 14, 1990, in Osage City. They later divorced. To this union, they shared two daughters, Andrea Lea and Brooke Ann.

He spent most of his life as an independent over-the-road truck driver and was currently driving for MNT Transportation, Topeka. He worked hard and took much pride in driving millions of miles across the lower 48 states. When he wasn’t on the road, he enjoyed fishing and spending time with family, friends, his daughters, and especially his granddaughter, Paisley.

Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Dean Lee and Pat; and his brother, Terry Burkdoll, Dec. 17, 2004.

He is survived by his two daughters, Andrea Lea Anderson, Topeka, and Brooke Ann Burkdoll, Wichita; two brothers, Steve Burkdoll (Beverly) and Dave Burkdoll (Peggy), both of Melvern; a sister, LeeAnn Samsel (Robert), Lyndon; a granddaughter, Paisley Rae Anderson; and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday, July 25, at the Lyndon Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 2 to 3:30 p.m., prior to services, at Feltner Funeral Home, Lyndon, before proceeding to the cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alan D. Burkdoll Memorial Fund and sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Ave., Lyndon, KS 66451.
