TOPEKA — Robert “Bob” Small, 74, Carbondale, died Thursday, April 1, 2021, at a local hospital.

Bob was born June 29, 1946, in Albany, Calif., the son of Edward and Mary (Jackson) Small.

He graduated from Washburn Rural High School in 1965, and served in the U.S. Navy from 1965 to 1968. He then went to work as a tire builder at Goodyear for 37 years, until retiring in 2006.

Bob was a member of Topeka Camping Club and VFW Post 2709 in Scranton. He enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, traveling, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren.

He married Sandra Rowan in 1968, and they later divorced. He married Sherry Anstaett May Oct. 15, 1977.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Michael Small.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years; his children, Steven May, Joplin, Mo., Krystal Heiman, Scranton, Amanda (John) Griffis, Blythewood, S.C., and Melissa (Adrian) Clinger, Sugar City, Idaho; his grandchildren, Trenton, Tucker, Kaylee, Samuel, Eli, Nathaniel, Noah, Miles, Luke, Mikhael, Austin, Jordan, Shaylie, Braxton, Hallye, Elizabeth and Rebecca; his great-grandchildren, Adalynn and Lorenzo; and his sister, Patricia (Mike) Jantzen.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 8, at Dove Southwest Chapel, 3700 S.W. Wanamaker Road, Topeka. A reception will follow at the funeral home. Private family inurnment will be at the Carbondale Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Condolences may be left for the family at www.DoveTopeka.com.
