Michael Dean Post
June 8, 1952 – Jan. 26, 2021
LYNDON — Michael Dean Post, Lyndon, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2021, at his home. He was 68.
He was born June 8, 1952, in Miles City, Mont., the son of Gerald Dean Post and Lila Mae (Waterbury) Post. He graduated from Harriman High School with the class of 1970.
Following graduation, Michael enlisted in the U.S. Air Force proudly serving his country for 20 years. He began his service as a cook eventually becoming an auto body instructor attaining the rank of technical sergeant. Michael was awarded the Commendation Medal, Achievement Medal, Outstanding Unit Award, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, Overseas Long Tour Medal and the Longevity Service Award Ribbon. During his service he was stationed in Japan, Korea, Kansas, Ohio, Montana, Idaho, and Maryland.
Upon his retirement from the Air Force, Michael settled in Lyndon, and began working for Home Oil as a service technician. He eventually began working for Doric Concrete Vault Company, Osage City, retiring in 2011.
Michael was a car enthusiast but he was a Ford Mustang lover. His first car was a Mustang and he had at least one for the rest of his life. He and his wife, Linda, took many road trips in their Mustangs over the years. His service in the Air Force led to another love, planes. He always took time to stop at museums on air travel or Air Force service. Of course if he wasn’t traveling to an Air Force museum he was probably driving to a Mustang show. Working on his Mustangs was one thing he truly loved to do at home and as that became difficult he began working on Model cars and collecting different collectible car items.
Michael had one love that far exceeded his love of Mustangs, his wife, Linda. They were married Jan. 21, 1972, in Berryton, sharing 46 years of marriage until the passing of Linda in 2019.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald Dean Post and Lila Mae Post.
Michael is survived by a son, Matthew Post (Michelle), Tecumseh; two daughters, Michelle Post (Scott Helmers), Savannah, Ga., and Tammy Johnson, Topeka; a sister Jerry Lee Smith (Scott), Tennessee; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, at Grace Community Church, Overbrook. The service will be live streamed on the funeral home Facebook page for friends wanting to participate virtually. Interment will be in Ridgeway Cemetery, Carbondale.
