Linton elected to KCBS board

Osage City resident Corey Linton was elected to a board position on the Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS). He will be one of 12 members on the board and will fill the seat for three years. After his three-year term, he can choose to run for an additional three-year term.

Linton has been organizing the Osage City Smoke in the Spring barbecue contest for fifteen years with this year’s contest, slated for April 9-10, being his sixteenth. He is the Osage City Recreation Director and has grown the local contest into one of the best in the state. “I was fortunate to have help growing Smoke in the Spring into a premier KCBS contest,” Linton said. “Dave Azwell has been my right hand man with the contest and I owe a lot to him, in the early years, helping me understand all sides to a barbecues contest. This contest does not exist without the volunteers, the city employees, local sponsors and the public.”

Becoming a board member is like a dream come true for Linton. “Prior to Osage City, I didn’t know competition barbecue existed” Linton said. “To now be elected to the KCBS board of directors is surreal. I appreciate the privilege serving on this board and look forward to progressing the sport of barbecue.”

KCBS is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving, celebrating, promoting and educating the public about barbecue as a distinctively American cuisine. They have over 20,000 members and run over 500 sanctioned barbecue contests annually in 42 countries. They are the leading organization for barbecue and grilling enthusiasts globally.
