MELVERN — Mary Ellen Arb died Friday, Jan. 8, 2021, at her home in Melvern. She was 85

She was born July 6, 1935, in Melvern, the daughter of Herbert and Mary (Barbee) Criqui. She lived most of her life in the Melvern community, where she graduated from Melvern High School in 1952.

Mary Ellen worked for Bell Telephone as a payroll clerk until her retirement in 1997. She was a member of the Pioneers Club, American Legion Auxiliary, Melvern United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.

She married Dale Arb July 26, 1952, in Texas. He survives. To this union four children were born, Mike, Kenny, Linda and Bryon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Mary; two brothers, Herb and Oren Criqui; and three sisters, Viola Stamback, Martha Brockman and Betty Midhour.

Besides her husband of 68 years, she is survived by four children, Mike Arb, Topeka, Kenny (Robyn) Arb, Melvern, Linda (Bert) Brannen, Atlanta, Ga., and Bryon (Tina) Arb, Topeka; a brother, William (Bill) Criqui, Melvern; five grandchildren, Sonya Ruiz, Toni Arb, Lana Shelton, Wayne Arb and Whitney Arb; and many great-grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services are 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, at Melvern Cemetery.Mary Ellen will lie in state 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Feltner Funeral Home, Lyndon. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m..

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mary Ellen Arb Memorial Fund and sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Ave., Lyndon, KS 66451.
