OSAGE CITY — Dale Eugene Vandevord, Scranton, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021, at Peterson Assisted Living, Osage City. He was 86.

Dale was born Aug. 8, 1934 in rural Scranton, the son of Clifford L. and Anna Mae (Jones) Vandevord. He graduated from Burlingame High School.

He married Mary Flora Fisher Nov. 24, 1954. She preceded him in death. To this union, five children were born, Steven, Tina, Cindy, Richard and Eugenia.

Dale was a farmer and rancher his entire life in Osage County.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Steven Vandevord; three brothers, Bud, John, Robert Vandevord; and a sister, Anna Louise Fender.

Dale will be forever remembered by three daughters, Tina (Eddie) Burkett, Scranton, Cindy Cordonier, Kansas City, Mo., and Eugenia Akers, Scranton; a son, Richard (Heidi) Vandevord, Scranton; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, Jan.13, at Burlingame Cemetery, Burlingame. Visitation will be Tuesday 3 to 8 p.m. with family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m. at VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, Osage City.

Memorial contributions may be made to Peterson Assisted Living and sent in care of VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, 107 N. Sixth, Osage City, KS 66523. Condolences may be expressed at Vanarsdalefs.com.
