TOPEKA — Rosabelle “Petie” R. Herr Harris, Scranton, died Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2020, at Aldersgate Village in Topeka. She was 92.

She was born Dec. 13, 1928, in Butler, S.D., the daughter of William Fredrick and Diana (Regneir) Herr. Petie graduated from high school in Grand Rapids, Minn.

She married Martin Loyd Harris June 14, 1958, at the base chapel, at Forbes Field Air Force Base, Topeka. They shared over 27 years of marriage before Martin died on Oct. 8, 1985.

Petie worked most of her life as a waitress and was employed at The Jayhawk Hotel, The Lounge, Holiday Inn South and retired from Coyote Canyon.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Cynthia Booth (2017); a stepson, Martin Leigh Harris (1977); a step-grandson, Brian Harris Smith (2019); five sisters, Florence M. Burt, Olive Hogge, Eloise H. Crumrine, Ione T. Williams and an infant sister Alma Ann Herr; and a brother, Lawrence Herr.

Survivors include a son, Kenneth Harris, Burlingame; three stepchildren, Darlene Bogren (Neil), Scranton, Marion Harris, Carbondale, and Carroll Schooler (Ronnie), Scranton; a sister, Elaine C. Allen, Meriden; a brother, Joseph W. Herr, Grand Rapids, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.

Memorial graveside service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, at Scranton Cemetery, Scranton.

Memorial contributions may be made to Papan’s Landing or Meals on Wheels and sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Ave., Lyndon, KS 66451.
