Gilbert E. “Bud” Masters

BURLINGAME — Gilbert E. “Bud” Masters, Burlingame, went home to be with the Lord Dec. 14, 2020. He was 80.

He was born July 7, 1940, in Harveyville, the son of Gilbert L. “Irish” and Mary Ingraham Masters. He was raised and lived in Burlingame his entire life.

He married Nora Mae Powell Feb. 24, 1967. She survives.

He graduated from Burlingame High School in 1958. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1959 to 1963. Through high school he worked for Fast Motor Company, which fed his love of driving Pontiacs. Upon returning from the Navy, he worked for Martin Marietta and then farmed until he retired. After retirement he was a Master Daycare Grandpa and folk art craftsman.

He was preceded in death by three siblings, Don, Mick and Ruth; and a nephew, Kevin.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Julie (Leonard) Bremenkamp, Pam Masters, and Paula (Kevin) Moon; a son, Gary Masters; seven grandchildren, Austin (Brooke), Kaylyn, Lucas, McKrae, Jenna, Brock and Gideon, all of Burlingame; and two brothers, James, Burlingame and Terry, Tucson, Ariz.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18, at Lamb-Roberts-Price, 503 S. Topeka Ave., Burlingame. Family request attendees wear Bearcat apparel to the visitation. Following COVID-19 guidelines, funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, at Federated Church of Burlingame. Interment will be at Burlingame Cemetery at a later date. The service will be live streamed on Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home Facebook page for friends unable to attend.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kevin Masters’ Memorial Scholarship Fund or the Federated Church of Burlingame and sent in care of Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O. Box 194, Burlingame, KS 66413.
