LAWRENCE — Janet Ann Higgins, McClouth, died Sunday, Nov. 22, 2020, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Lawrence. She was 79.

She was born Nov. 24, 1940, in Rushville, Mo., the daughter of Ermon and Neva Ruble Kelley. She lived in Topeka for many years and then near Vassar.

Janet was a homemaker and mother most of her life and had worked as a hostess and waitress at Bill and Ellie’s, in Lyndon.

She married James “Jim” Higgins March 14, 1959, in Camden Point, Mo. He survives. To this union two daughters were born, Angelique and Michele.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Ermon and Neva; and most of her siblings.

Besides her husband of nearly 62 years, she is survived by two daughters, Angelique Marie (Jon) Grady, Mission, and Michele Renee’ (Chuck) Loeffler, Lyndon; a sister, Jean Hull, Weston, Mo.; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Nov. 30 at Feltner Funeral Home, Lyndon.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Helping Hands Humane Society and sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Ave., Lyndon, KS 66451.
