TOPEKA — Thomas Charles “Tommy” Whalen, Osage City, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2020, at Stormont Vail Hospital, Topeka. He was73.

Tommy was born July 13, 1947, in Emporia, the son of Robert Lawrence and Lavern Marie (Smith) Whalen.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert Joseph Whalen and James Raymond Whalen.

He is survived by two sisters, Florence Barner, Delaware, and Constance Whalen Mauer, Austin, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews in Missouri, Colorado, Delaware, and Texas.

A private family service and burial was held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Osage City.

Memorial contributions may be made to Osage Nursing Activity Fund or Cerebral Palsy Research Foundation and sent in care of VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, 107 N. Sixth St., Osage City, KS 66523.
