Osage City–David L. McConnell died Thursday, Oct. 15, 2020, at Brookside Retirement Community, Overbrook. He was 69.

He was born June 24, 1951, in Lincoln, Neb., the son of Lloyd and Gladys Horstman McConnell. David grew up in Nebraska and graduated from Syracuse High School in 1971. He had been in the Osage City community for many years.

David owned and operated Boondock Mufflers, in Osage City, from 1991until retiring in 2014. His hobby was old Ford’s, Falcons and Galaxies. Most of all, David’s family and his faith in Christ were of the utmost importance to him.

He married Velma Delaney and they raised three sons. They later divorced.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Gladys and a brother, Jim McConnell.

David is survived by his three sons, Jeremiah (Holly) McConnell, Osage City, Dr. Malachi (Rachel) O’Brien, Peculiar, Mo., and Eli O’Brien, Wichita; a brother, Larry (Deb) McConnell, Albuquerque, N.M.; a sister, Jackie McDonald, Chanute; and five grandchildren, Austin McConnell, Grace O’Brien, Elijah O’Brien, Josiah O’Brien and Ella-Kate O’Brien.

He was cremated and private family services will be held at a later date. Feltner Funeral Home, Lyndon, is assisting the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to Brookside Retirement Community and sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Ave., Lyndon, KS 66451.
