John Flynn Jr.

June 3, 1931 – Aug. 30, 2020

VASSAR — John Flynn Jr. died Sunday, Aug. 30, 2020, at his home on Pomona Lake, near Vassar. He was 89.

He was born June 3, 1931, in Kansas City, the son of John and Gertrude (Huffman) Flynn, Sr. He lived most of his life in the Kansas City area until moving to Lake Pomona in 1993.

He worked for the Board of Public Utilities, in Kansas City, as a supervisor. He was a member of the Greenwood Baptist Church, near Pomona.

John married Bernice Flynn March 31, 1980, in Oklahoma. She survives of the home.

He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Flynn; his parents, John And Gertrude; and two sisters, Margaret Provyn and Louise Saucerman.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Larry Flynn, Overland Park; a daughter, Becky Noone, Kansas City; a stepdaughter, Sandy Belknap, Kansas City, Kansas; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, at Feltner Funeral Chapel, Lyndon. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow in Vassar Cemetery.

The family requests flowers to Guiding For The Blind and donor’s choice of an animal rescue and sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Ave., Lyndon, KS 66451.
