OVERBROOK — Myra Geer, Ottawa, died Friday, May 1, 2020, at Brookside Retirement Community, Overbrook. She was 61.

She was born Jan. 29, 1959, in Great Bend, the daughter of Don Geer and Joan Ekord Geer. Myra grew up in Ottawa, graduating from Ottawa High School with the class of 1977. She moved to California in 1980 and returned to Ottawa in 2008.

From 2009 to 2018, Myra was employed at Brookside Retirement Community, Overbrook, working her way up to dietary manager. She loved her job and the people she worked with.

Myra was an avid reader. She also enjoyed television shows that interested her. She loved planting flowers and keeping them up over the summer months. She enjoyed her weekly trips out to eat with Chris and spending each evening together. She also enjoyed her visits to see her daughter or when her daughter came to visit. Those memories will last forever.

She was preceded in death by her father, Don Geer and a brother, Rick Geer.

Myra is survived by her mother, Joan Geer, Overbrook; a companion, Chris Perry, Ottawa; a daughter, Katrina LeVold, San Diego, Calif.; a grandson, Julian Smerdon, San Diego, Calif.; a brother, Ed Geer, Ottawa; two sisters, Betty Franklin, Ottawa, and Vicki Flores, Gladstone, Mo.; and many uncles, aunts and cousins.

Private family services will be held at a later date, after restrictions are lifted.

Memorial contributions may be made to Myra Geer Memorial Fund and sent in care of Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, P.O. Box 14, Ottawa, KS 66067.
