OSAGE CITY — Larry Dean Ward died Wednesday, March 11, 2020, at his home in Barclay. He was 77.

He was born June 17, 1942, in Junction City, the son to Roy Leon and Helen Mae Hunt Ward.

He married Catherine Jaap Nov. 11, 1977, at Cupid Wedding Chapel, Las Vegas, Nev. She survives of the home.

He first owned and operated Midwest Carpet Cleaners for many years, in Topeka. Larry and Cathy moved to Barclay in 1990. Together they owned and operated The Bargain Hut, Osage City, for 12 years. When they first moved to Barclay, he worked for Warren Dean Perry farm and Holthaus Motors.

He enjoyed racing go-carts and got very involved in racing. He loved playing guitar with Cathy on mandolin.

He was preceded by his parents.

Besides his wife, he will be forever remembered by two daughters, Annette Cooper, Palm Coast, Fla., and Suzette Lockett, Palm Coast, Fla.; two sons, Christopher Ward, Manhattan, and John Elmore, Salina; two sisters, Pamela Been and husband, Robert, Topeka, and Penny Hagler and husband, Doug, Little Elm, Texas; five grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

Funeral services will be announce by VanArsdale Funeral Chapel at a latter date.

Memorial contributions may be made to Helping Hands Human Society and sent in care of VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, 107 N. Sixth St., Osage City, KS 66523.
