Died – Feb. 14, 2020

TOPEKA — Richard Dean Wells, Topeka, died peacefully Friday morning, Feb. 14, 2020, at a Topeka nursing home. He was 71.

He served in the Navy following high school and was stationed in San Diego, Calif. After his military service, he worked for Whelan’s Lumber Company, in Topeka, and later started his own construction company. In December 1986, he purchased Northbrook Lumber, Overbrook. He was involved in construction for more than 30 years.

He survived by two sons, Dane Wells and wife, Melissa, Overbrook, and Daric Wells and wife, Joni, Berryton; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, March 1, at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 S.W. Urish Road, Topeka. Inurnment will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made to Overbrook American Legion and sent in care of Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 S.W. Urish Road, Topeka, KS 66614.
