OVERBROOK — Dean Lee Burkdoll, Lyndon, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2020, at Brookside Retirement Community, Overbrook. He was 82.

He was born July 29, 1937, near Lyndon, the son of Walter Dean and Georgene Neill Burkdoll. He lived all of his life near the Melvern and Lyndon communities.

Dean Lee graduated from Lyndon High School in 1955 where he was active in sports and FFA. He was a farmer and stockman all of his life. He worked at Goodyear for 13 years.

He was a member of Flint Hills Coon Hunters Association, Kansas Livestock Association and was a member and director of American Redbone Association. He played town team basketball in Lyndon and played tournament softball for many years. He attended Mt. Pleasant Community Church and True Grace Community Church.

He married Patricia Rose, Aug. 1, 1955, in Lyndon. She preceded him in death on Nov. 12, 2019.

Besides his wife of 64 years, he was preceded in death by a son, Terry Burkdoll, on Dec. 17, 2004; and his parents.

Dean Lee is survived by three sons, Steve (Beverly) Burkdoll and wife, Beverly and Dave Burkdoll and wife, Peggy, all of Melvern, and Alan Burkdoll, Topeka; a daughter, LeeAnn Samsel and husband, Robert, Lyndon; a brother, Frank Burkdoll, Lyndon; two sisters, Carolyn McMillin, Lyndon, and Rexine Roller, Pea Ridge, Ark.; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15 at Feltner Funeral Chapel, Lyndon. Burial will follow at Lyndon Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday at the chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Dean Lee Burkdoll Memorial Fund and sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Ave., Lyndon, KS 66451.
