WAKARUSA — Georgina “Jeanne” R. Porter, Wakarusa, died Monday, Nov. 25, 2019, at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was 61
She was born March 2, 1958, in Sharon, Pa. She attended Auburn Grade School and graduated from Washburn Rural High School in 1976.
Over the course of her life she has had numerous full as well as part-time jobs, always with the desire to never be bored. Once her son was old enough to start school, she began her employment years in the business office of St. Francis Hospital. Once something opened up a bit closer to home, she started working during the day for the rural water office, in Auburn, and volunteering evenings and weekends for Auburn Fire and AMR.
As the grandbabies started to arrive, the new adventures really began, her thrill seeking days fell by the wayside. She became employed by the VA, first as a call center representative and then as a medical reimbursement clerk, but just so she was not too bored in the evenings, she started a dog grooming business. Upon her retirement, Dean and Jeanne became actively involved in Topeks Camping Club.
Jeanne married Dean Porter, January 1976, and they were blessed with a child, Jason, wife, Kate and two beautiful granddaughters, Madi Rae (Caleb) and Rande Lynn, all of Auburn.
