Pauline “Nanny” Bundy Morris

June 29, 1930 – Nov. 7, 2019

TOPEKA — Pauline “Nanny” Bundy Morris, Auburn, died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2019, surrounded by her family, at a Topeka hospital.

She was born June 29, 1930, in Topeka, the daughter of Wilson “Purdy” and Bertha Sherretts Bundy. She attended Liberty Grade School, graduated from Washburn Rural High School and then attended business school.

She cooked for many years at Auburn Grade School and Auburn Junior High School after her children were all in school.

Our fondest memories will be July 4 suppers at her home, with fried chicken, homemade bread and homemade ice cream for more than 50 years. Making bready bears to leave for Santa, with grandchildren, great-grandchildren and whoever else may show up. Looking forward to see what the new handmade ornament was going to be every Christmas, for each grandchild and their plus one and caring for the small zoo at her house. There was always enough food at Sunday dinner no matter how many extras came with family and they all knew they were always welcome.

Pauline married Robert Morris Aug. 31, 1952, in Dover. He preceded her in death on March 11, 2013.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Garland “Buddy” Bundy; and a niece and a nephew.

She is survived by four children, Joy Thomas and husband, Paul, Paul Morris and wife, Teresa, David Morris and Duane Morris and wife, Lisa; seven grandchildren, Allan Thomas and Kristi Gadino, Richard Thomas and wife, Annie, Melissa Schlegel, Jenny Moore, Jayme Sobeski and husband, Luke, Lonnie Morris and wife, Leilani and Emma Shaw and husband, Warren; seven great-grandchildren, Debbie and Shawn Thomas, Robert and Dylan Schlegel, Taylor and Rylee Moore and Willa Sobeski; three brothers, Bernard Morris, John Morris and wife, Sue and Gary Morris and wife, Alta; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A graveside funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14 at Auburn Cemetery, Auburn.

Memorial contribution may be made to MADD, American Cancer Society or American Heart Association and sent in care of Carey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 196, Burlingame, KS 66413.
