Coach of the Year
Jayson Duncan, Santa Fe Trail – Jayson Duncan put in the hours and hard work to turn one of the states biggest droughts into a surplus this year, as the Chargers won nine games en route to a Class 4A Div. II sub-state appearance. The Chargers defense only allowed 15 points in one of 12 games this year. Duncan’s leadership also earned him the All-Area Coach of the Year title in the Lawrence Journal-World.
Offensive Player of the Year
Dawson Swinehart, Lyndon – No player in Osage County moved the ball as much as Lyndon senior Dawson Swinehart this season. Swinehart held the ball for 1,858 yards on 182 carries and completed 45 of 97 passes for 734 yards, amassing 2,592 yards of offense in 11 games for 36 touchdowns.
Defensive Player of the Year
Darric Cashier, Santa Fe Trail – Santa Fe Trail senior Darric Cashier made 139 tackles in 12 games this season, despite being sidelined for half the postseason with injuries. Cashier also played full time for the offense with 1,286 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns.
