TOPEKA — Marsha Anne Gomez, Osage City, died Friday, Jan. 13, 2023, at Stormont-Vail Hospital, Topeka. She was 79.

She was born February 25, 1943, in Fairmont, Minn., to Charles and Mildred (Hames) Best. She spent her childhood in Minnesota, graduating from Richfield High School.

Marsha was united in marriage to Michael Gomez Dec. 17, 1967.

She worked as a statistician for General Mills until having children, when she stepped back from working life to focus on her family. When the children got older, she began driving the Headstart bus and later instructed math courses at Dodge City Community College, Dodge City, where they lived. Marsha and Michael later relocated to Osage City, to be closer to their children.

Marsha was a member of the Alter Society at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Osage City, and was a former member of the Red Hat Society.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mildred Best; a brother, Richard

Best; and an infant daughter, Margaret Gomez.

Marsha’s love lives on in the hearts of her husband of 55 years, Michael Gomez, Osage City; two sons, Mark Gomez and Martin Gomez (Angela), both of Topeka; a brother, Patrick Best, Jordan, Minn.; and three grandchildren, Madison, Gavin and Nathan Gomez.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Osage City. Visitation will be 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, with rosary services at 7:30 p.m., at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or St.

Patrick Catholic Church, and sent in care of VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, 107 N. Sixth St., Osage City, KS 66523.
