TOPEKA \u2014 Roezetta Arlene Keim, Harveyville, died Thursday, Aug. 4, 2022, at Midland Hospice House, Topeka. She was 80.<\/p>\n
She was born May 22, 1942, at the Alpine Community, now under Melvern Lake near Turkey Point, the daughter of Louis and Zetta (Skank) Hammond. She attended grade school at Alpine Community and graduated from Humboldt High School. She then earned a bachelor\u2019s degree at Kansas State University and later a master\u2019s degree.<\/p>\n
Roezetta was united in marriage to Larry Gene Keim Aug. 18, 1973, in Humboldt. After a Colorado honeymoon, they settled at the family farm southwest of Harveyville, where they shared almost 50 years of marriage.<\/p>\n
She taught school at Altoona\/Midway in southeast Kansas. She later taught at Burlingame High School, and eventually retired from teaching at Central Missouri State University, Warrensburg, Mo.<\/p>\n
Roezetta enjoyed quilting, gardening, growing many types of flowers, and was known for baking and decorating the \u201cbest cakes in the world.\u201d She was a farm wife and a hardworking partner, hauling grain to the elevator and continuously maintaining the farm. Roezetta and Larry also transformed an old barn, creating a \u201cWelcome to the \u201950s\u201d theme, using a collection of memorabilia. \u201cFunny Face Farms\u201d was a name inspired by their beloved Saint Bernard, and it continues to this day. She attended Miller United Methodist Church.<\/p>\n
She was preceded in death by her parents.<\/p>\n
Roezetta is survived by her husband, Larry Keim; five nephews; three nieces; five great-nephews; and five great-nieces.<\/p>\n
A private family memorial service will be held at the Keim farm, and interment will follow at Wilmington Cemetery, Harveyville.<\/p>\n
