TOPEKA \u2014 Patrina Marie “Tina” Potter, Lyndon, died Thursday, July 28, 2022, at the University of Kansas Health System St. Francis Campus, Topeka. She was 66.<\/p>\n
She was born Dec. 17, 1955, in Mondovi, Wis., the daughter of Melvin “Bud” and June (Peterson) Nerby.<\/p>\n
Tina was united in marriage to William “Bill” Potter Aug. 28, 1995, in Eureka Springs, Ark. She lived in Lecompton, before moving to rural Lyndon in 1996.<\/p>\n
She worked for several years in nursing homes as an administrative coordinator. She was a member of the Vassar United Methodist Church.<\/p>\n
To know Tina was to know a truly loving and kind soul. Not only would she do anything for family and friends, but she would occasionally\u00a0rescue a pet or two … and sometimes a horse. Tina’s love was infectious, and her smile would light up any room. Her family was most important to her. Making lefse, reminiscing\u00a0about the past, and cooking for everyone were truly the special times. She also loved to dance, and was known to cut loose at times on the dance floor where she and Bill started their journey together, especially to “Ice Ice Baby.”<\/p>\n
The family cannot share enough words to convey how extremely loved Tina was, how she impacted each family member\u2019s life, and how she put everyone else first. As she rejoins her mother and father in the Heavens and watches over us all, her eternal wish is that you seize every opportunity, make the best of every situation, and in the words of her favorite song, “I hope you dance!”<\/p>\n
Tina was preceded in death by her father, Bud; her mother and stepfather, June and George Stiehl; and a stepbrother, Ray.<\/p>\n
She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Bill; her son, Patrick Joshua Heptinstall (Lindsay), Osage City; two daughters, Patrice Kelley (Brian), \u00a0Lecompton, and Dee Hitchcock (Josh), Platte City, Mo.; three sisters, Nancy Rieck (Rodger), Wabasha, Minn., and Sandy Glomski (Leroy) and Barbara Nerby, both of Alma, Wis.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.<\/p>\n
A celebration of life service will be 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, at Feltner Funeral Chapel, Lyndon. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. until service time. Tina requested that attire be informal if attending the service.<\/p>\n
