OSAGE CITY \u2014 Maxine Alice \u201cMax\u201d Burns, Osage City, formerly of Waco, Texas, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2022, at her residence. She was 66.<\/p>\n
She was born March 20, 1955, in Garnett, to Clifford and Jackie Burns. She grew up in Osage City before finding her way to Mesa, Ariz., where she spent many years raising her son, Christopher, before moving to Moline, Ill., New Orleans, and finally Waco. She attended Osage City High School and graduated from Arizona State University. <\/p>\n
Max was especially devoted to her son and granddaughters, constantly encouraging and supporting them to thrive. She was actively involved with their schooling, sports and interests. Friends always received a warm welcome, and acquaintances were always greeted as friends. <\/p>\n
She enjoyed playing cards and board games, crafting, scrapbooking, camping, and spending time with family and friends. She was a dedicated Girl Scout leader and an avid member of the Heart of Texas Master Naturalists. She was always busy working with her scouts or volunteering. As a troop leader for 12 years, she held many different leadership positions, trained other leaders in outdoor activities, archery, and participated in many volunteer opportunities. She and her troop traveled far and wide. Always striving to lead by example, Max lived her life by the Girl Scout Law, being honest and fair, friendly and helpful, considerate and caring, courageous and strong, responsible for what she said and did, and respected herself and others, respected authority, used resources wisely, made the world a better place, and was a sister to every Girl Scout (every person).<\/p>\n
Max was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Jackie; her brother, Lee Burns; and her nephew, Darby Burns.<\/p>\n
She is survived by her son, Christopher Franks (Heather); three granddaughters, Gabrielle, Arizona and Meghan Franks; and two siblings, Maariah Inglehardts and Lynn Burns. <\/p>\n
A celebration of life service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 12, at Countryside Baptist Church, Osage City. Friends and family are encouraged to share stories and fond memories immediately following the memorial service. Light refreshments will be served. Max was cremated, and her ashes will be placed at a later date.<\/p>\n
