She was 89.<\/p>\n<p>Betty was born Nov. 18, 1931, at home in Osage City.<\/p>\n<p>She was very strong in her faith. She was the author of multiple Christian education publications and was always involved with the church, with Sunday school, Vacation Bible School and Christian single adult groups.<\/p>\n<p>Betty also believed strongly in music, and she played her harmonica for whomever asked her to.<\/p>\n<p>She held some very lofty positions in her career. She helped manage the Topeka Truck Plaza with her husband, Bob Curley; was the area director for the Kidney Foundation of Kansas and Western Missouri; and was the human resource director for Bibb &amp; Associates. She ended her working life in the music field with her son, Jim Curley, where she helped manage The Mountain Music Shoppe, Shawnee, and made friends from all over the world. She also loved listening to Luciano Pavarotti music, which would always bring her peace.<\/p>\n<p>The one thing everyone will remember Betty for was her love for all people. She and her family were very involved with the Up With People organization, and also hosted a foreign exchange student from Japan. She always said everyone was created equal and should be respected for the individual person they are.<\/p>\n<p>Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Anna Mae Burd and Earl Bronson, Topeka.<\/p>\n<p>She is survived by her daughter, Rae Lynn Miller, Nevada, Mo.; her son, Jim Curley (Liz), Ironton, Ohio; her granddaughters, Cody Bruns, Shawnee, and Kyle Curley, Lansing; her sisters, Corinne Clark, Topeka, and Loretta Warren (Herb), Overbrook; her brother, Don Bronson (Patty), Louisiana, Mo.; her three great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter.<\/p>\n<p>Betty donated her body to the KU School of Medicine.<\/p>\n<p>A celebration of life service for Betty will be held on her birthday, Thursday, Nov. 18, at The Barn at Kill Creek Farm, De Soto.<\/p>\n<p>Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation in memory of Betty Curley.<\/p>\n<p>Condolences for the family may be sent to 1203 Ridge Road, Nevada, MO 64772.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KANSAS CITY \u2014 Betty Lugene (Bronson) Curley entered the Golden Gates Saturday, Aug. 7, 2021, at Providence Hospital in Kansas City, to be with our Heavenly Father.
