OTTAWA \u2014 Bruce Lee Lane Sr., 70, formerly of Melvern, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 2021, at his home in Ottawa.<\/p>\n
He was born May 13, 1951, in Burlingame, the son of Harold Lane and Ila Jean Perry.\u00a0He grew up in Burlingame, moving to Ottawa in 1969. From there, he moved to Centropolis, then Quenemo, and finally to Melvern, where he made his home.<\/p>\n
Bruce was an auto body man all of his life.\u00a0He worked for Joe\u2019s Body Shop in Ottawa, Turner Chevrolet for years, Bent Fender Body Shop, and owned and operated Bruce\u2019s Body Shop in Centropolis for many years. He loved his occupation, and cars \u2014 especially the 1955 Chevy.\u00a0He loved that he could take old cars, make them look like new, and rebuild them back to their glory days.<\/p>\n
He also loved his family. If there was an activity his children or grandchildren were a part of, Bruce was there. He loved cheering them on, in whatever it was they were doing.<\/p>\n
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Roger and Russell Lane; a sister, Linda Lane; and his grandmother, Grace Russell.<\/p>\n
He is survived by his six children, Bruce Lane Jr. (Teresa), Lyndon, Michelle Fesenmeyer, Melvern, Kathryn Snover (Dustin), Ottawa, Linda Marshall, Topeka, Toni Lane, Derby, and Arlie Stewart (Lavonna), Ottawa; two sisters, Penny Lane, Topeka, and Connie Emperley (Bill), Burlingame; a brother, Chuck Lane (Mary), Texas; 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.<\/p>\n
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, at Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, Ottawa, with interment to follow immediately at Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, at the funeral home.<\/p>\n
